During the 1950s and 60s, and through to the early 1970s, the name MV Agusta was usually found at the top of the motorcycle GP results sheets, particularly in the 350cc and blue riband 500cc classes.
The Italian ‘fire engines’ were financed and built by wealthy Count Domenico Agusta, whose passion for racing saw him build the world’s best racing motorcycles of the period, while also recruiting the top men to ride them. Names such as John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read delivered victory after victory, title after title, to a race team run predominantly for the love of the sport.
This set of 20 rarely seen and evocative images brilliantly captures the spirit and joy of speed which prevailed.
